Supernatural Superstitions & Lore
According to an old English folk belief, you invite bad luck into your home if you allow a fire to burn out during the night on Halloween!
Considering many fires were lit and kept aflame to ward off any evil spirits that walked about during this thinning of the veil, it's safe to say luck wasn't the only thing at stake! So, what could one do if their fire went out on Halloween night?
To remedy the situation, one must travel to the home of a priest and retrieve (with his blessing) a piece of sod to rekindle the fire.
Surrounded by the stacked firewood, this pendant features a piece of moss agate set below rutilated quartz whose golden rutile resemble the licks of flames throughout the "sod".
Measuring approximately 2.5" x 1.6" at widest and longest points including bail. Strung on a 17" chain as shown above.
