For as long as I can remember, it seemed as if every new stranger made a guessing game of my profession. It seemed to be unanimous: I must be a jeweler. The problem? I wasn't. This continued trend persisted over a decade. While I am a second generation metalsmith, I ignored these nudges from the Universe until one day I surrendered. I conquered my fear of the scary jeweler's torch and the intimidation of an untouched silver sheet. I count it as one of the best days of my life.

My father grew up on a New Mexico Navajo reservation where he was taught the trade by those who had silver and turquoise pumping through their veins. He went on to make beautiful heirloom jewelry with my mother, the bulk of which was throughout the 70's. Through a number of circumstances and the winding of life, they were unable to teach me. However; I eventually attempted to teach myself which brings us to today, at this very moment, with you reading these words I have typed.

This shop is a manifestation of my heart, intense labor, immense love and of course gratitude for finding something that inspires me to get out of bed every morning. In addition to metalsmithing I am also an avid gem and mineral enthusiast. Often the stones used in my jewelry are also cut by my own hand or my husband who is a professional lapidarist. If they are not cut by either of us, they are ethically and ruthlessly sourced by myself.

Accompanying me in the studio are two miniature dachshunds ready to assist in the shipping department. One wiley and wirey, the other gentle and genius. We'll keep them away from the email department for as long as we can..

Exclusively using natural and authentic stones, basked in the energies of the {super}natural world.

I hand pick (and sometimes cut myself) each stone, using only those which are authentic and of the highest quality.

Each piece is one of a kind and each aspect is made by my own hands. No production lines found here!

All jewelry is made from either Fine Silver (.999), Sterling Silver (.925), or a coupling of both. Occasionally 14k gold and other metals make a rare visit.

100% Vegan Metalsmith studio.

You may ask yourself, "But how is a piece of jewelry NOT vegan?" To answer this, a further examination is needed. Was the metal in your ring hammered with rawhide? The apron the maker wore, was it sewn out of skin? The polishing compound, was it comprised of animal fat? More often than not animal products drown us completely silently and unnecessarily. Rest assured, not one animal product is used in the making of any Dark Fawn piece. DarkFawn Jewelry is committed to "freeing every cage".
