The Crooked Woods
Down a crooked path,
Deep in the crooked forest,
You'll find a crooked house,
built from crooked woods.
It sways with the wind,
and casts shadows of illusions,
It's creaks and groans
Are the vining roots of superstition.
It's where the spirits live,
and the bats gather,
where the wind wails,
and the ashes smolder.
The harvest moon grows its fields at its door,
and the thinning veil are its curtains.
The crooked house in the crooked woods
is the home to the spirit of the darkening seasons.
This Crooked Woods ring features twisting branches (cast from the real thing!) that cradle a rising and golden (brass) crescent moon. A young bat has just taken flight, and in the middle rests what I call a "witch eye" stone. This stone is a piece of tourmaline that has been cut as to retain a black "pupil" in the center. These stones are an homage to the superstition that witch's eyes are pink and/or contain no or multiple pupils.
Resting on a split band, this ring is a size 5.5 and is handmade from start to finish. It has been given a dark patina, and then a lightly brushed matte finish on the top and bottom to bring out the details.
Please note, unfortunately I am unable to resize any piece at this time.
